Why KKEUT Korean Medicine Clinic’s

Hypertrophic Scar Regeneration Laser (Pinhole Technique) Is Different

Scars do not improve simply because a laser is used.

At KKEUT Korean Medicine Clinic, the Regeneration Laser (Pinhole Technique) is a highly detailed, scar-by-scar customized treatment that reflects our clinical philosophy—treating each scar according to its structure and condition.

1. CO₂ vs. Er:YAG — Customized Laser Selection by Area

  • Wide, firm scars are treated with a CO₂ laser for strong and effective stimulation

  • Thin or sensitive areas are treated with an Er:YAG laser for a more delicate approach

  • The doctor personally selects the laser based on the characteristics of each area

2. Customized Pinhole Spacing & Diameter

  • Standard pinhole spacing is typically 1–2 mm

  • Depending on the scar condition, spacing may be widened to 3 mm or more, or made denser

  • After directly assessing the location, shape, and thickness of the scar,

  • both spacing and depth are individually adjusted

3. Precise Design of Ablation Depth

Upper Dermis vs. Deep Dermal Layer

  • Whether to apply superficial stimulation or deeper penetration

  • Whether to target only the upper dermis

  • Or to deliberately reach the deep dermal collagen layer

The treatment depth is individually determined by the doctor’s clinical judgment.

This level of precision is not possible without extensive experience and expertise.

4. Not a Mechanical Procedure

Doctor-Led from Design to Treatment

  • Consultation and treatment are performed directly by the doctor

  • The scar is examined in detail

  • Pinhole positions and spacing are individually designed for each scar

  • Laser intensity is adjusted according to the patient’s skin condition

Post-treatment recovery is carefully monitored,

and subsequent treatment necessity and intervals are responsibly guided.

What Is the Hypertrophic Scar Regeneration Laser (Pinhole Technique)?

The Regeneration Laser (Pinhole Technique) creates microscopic holes at 1–3 mm intervals within raised scars using a CO₂ or Er:YAG laser.

This process:

  • Disrupts excessively proliferated collagen tissue

  • Loosens the rigid scar structure

  • Allows the scar to naturally flatten and soften over time

Compared to conventional fractional lasers, this technique:

  • Penetrates deeper into the dermis

  • Does not simply resurface the skin

  • Is particularly effective for papular and hypertrophic scars that require deep dermal remodeling
